There are multiple ways to create a new promotion in Confido: from scratch, with Fido (Confido's AI assistant for creating promotions), or by uploading a contract. Below are support materials for how to create promotions using these different methods.
Creating a promotion from scratch (most common)
Click Trade on the left hand nav bar
Select Trade Calendar
Click Add New Promotion

Where to Assign a Promotion in a Multi-Division Hierarchy
When a retailer has multiple divisions or distributors rolled up under one Collection (e.g., an "Albertsons" collection containing division-level Planning Groups like "Alb United" and "Alb Jewel"), decide where to assign a promotion event based on its funding scope:
National/same-funding promotions: If a promotion applies with the same funding across all divisions, assign it at the parent Collection level. This allows volume to flow in from every underlying child Planning Group.
Division-specific promotions: If a promotion is specific to a single division or distributor, assign it at that specific child Planning Group instead. This ensures the promotion only pulls volume from that division's data rather than the full collection.

Here is where you will enter the details for the promotion (how are you funding it)
Input the following details:
Type (this is predefined but can be adjusted if needed)
Product Line (can select by family, product, category, product channel)
Input the Rate per unit (or by case)
If you need historical context, select Show Insights to view a bump chart of historical sales for that product/product family. Drag across a past promoted period (e.g. the same promotion last year) to see the actual historical lift, then click Apply Percent Lift to paste that percentage directly into the promotion's lift field.
Input the lift manually, or click Lift Projection to use our recommendation based on historical sales and the trade forecast.
Applied lift is calculated on a weighted basis — it's run against each underlying SKU's own expected unit volume and price, not applied as a flat percentage uniformly across all included products
A separate Scan Back Units field (on the promotion event) lets you pull in additional volume from trailing/previous weeks
Click the unit-count button next to the lift field to see the unit-volume equivalent of the applied lift feeding into the dollar calculation
Once Completed Click Next
Upload any Documents (if applicable)
Click Next
Review the promotion and select one of the following options:
Save as Draft
Cancel Promotion
Create Promotion
Once created the promotion will be added to the Trade Calendar
Viewing a Promotion's Change History
To see a log of changes made to a promotion (e.g., edits to rate, dates, or product), open the promotion and click View History on the final/review page. This is a separate change log from the Accruals module's booked-amount version history.
How do I enter a distributor MCB deal billed across many retailers (UNFI, KeHE)?
Use this section to plan a distributor MCB (manufacturer chargeback) deal in the Trade Calendar when UNFI, KeHE or another distributor bills one deal across many retailers at different rates. It's for trade planners who create promotions. On a distributor MCB report, the chargeback percentage on each line reflects that retailer's own pricing, including EDLP (everyday low price), so the same SKU can carry a different rate at each retailer. Don't enter the MCB deal as one national promotion with one blended rate. Enter it as retailer-level events:
Keep EDLP separate from the MCB promotion. If a retailer has ongoing EDLP funding, create that as its own promotion on the retailer's Planning Group, using your EDLP trade type and % funding for the agreement period. Then create the MCB as a separate MCB (or Scan) promotion on the same Planning Group with the promotion dates. When the two overlap, Confido forecasts spend for both, based on total units in that window.
Create one event for each Planning Group in the deal, for example Wegmans, Stop and Shop, and Giant, each with its own start and end dates. On each line, use the chargeback percentage the distributor applies to that retailer on the backup, not a blended national rate.
Split lines when the rate differs by product within one retailer. If Wegmans shows 5% on some items and 9%, 12% or 13% on others, give each rate its own promotion line in the same event with the same dates. Group each line to the product family or products that share that rate.
For a large calendar, duplicate an event to other periods, or use the Promo Calendar Upload with one row per Planning Group, product and rate. Uploaded rows with the same Planning Group and dates roll up into one event automatically.
Once the events are created, each Planning Group's MCB spend shows in the Trade Calendar and its forecast. When the distributor's check posts, the MCB deduction still arrives as one deduction covering many retailers. Split and tag it using the backup detail, so each piece ties to the matching Planning Group promotion. If an event is missing after you upload, check that the Planning Group and dates on each row match.
Limitation: One national MCB promotion with a single rate can't match retailer-specific chargeback percentages, so forecast spend and deduction matching drift from what the distributor bills. Workaround: Use retailer-level events as described above. Keep a Collection-level promotion only for deals with the same funding across every division.
Creating Promotions With Fido
Fido is Confido's AI assistant for creating promotions in the Trade Calendar. Use Fido to describe the promotions you want in plain language and have Fido create them, either one promotion at a time or up to 50 promotions in a single request. Create with Fido replaces the older From Prompt option, which is no longer available.
Who this is for: Confido users who create promotions in the Trade Calendar.
How to open Fido to create a promotion
Go to Trade → Trade Calendar, then use any one of the following options to open Fido:
Click the dropdown next to New Promotion, then click Create with Fido.
Click Ask Fido.
Click New Promotion. For some users, New Promotion now opens Fido by default. For others, New Promotion still opens the manual promotion builder described above in "Creating a promotion from scratch."
Once Fido is open, chat with Fido to describe the promotions you want to create. Fido shows the promotions it generates in a table so you can review them.
How to create many promotions at once with Fido
Fido can create up to 50 promotions in one request. Common reasons to create promotions in bulk with Fido:
Creating the same promotion across many periods in the Trade Calendar.
Creating the same promotion across multiple retailers.
Importing an annual promotion calendar into Confido.
How to switch from Fido to the manual promotion builder
If you click New Promotion and Fido opens, but you'd rather enter the promotion yourself, click the link at the bottom of the Fido panel to switch to the manual promotion builder.
Limitations of creating promotions with Fido
Fido can create up to 50 promotions in a single request. To create more than 50 promotions, split the request into multiple batches of 50 or fewer.
The New Promotion button currently opens Fido for some users and the manual promotion builder for others. Both paths stay available to everyone: Create with Fido is always in the New Promotion dropdown, and the manual builder is always reachable from the link at the bottom of the Fido panel.
