Why Can't I Delete This Promotion? (Booked Accrual)

If Confido shows an error when you try to delete a promotion, the most common cause is that the promotion's accrual (the estimated trade spend Confido tracks against that promotion) has already been booked for one or more periods. Booking an accrual creates a locked snapshot used for month-end financial reporting, so Confido blocks deletion of any promotion tied to a booked accrual in order to protect that historical record. This applies regardless of trade type, once at least one accrual period has been booked.

If the promotion won't be running (or already ran) and you no longer need it active, use one of these two options instead of deleting it:

  1. Cancel the promotion. Open the promotion, go to the Review step, and click the red Cancel button (shown whenever the promotion's status is not already Canceled). Enter a cancellation reason — this field is required — and confirm. Canceling keeps the promotion's booked accrual history intact while stopping any future forecast impact.

  2. Close the accrual. If you'd rather zero out the remaining open balance, go to the Accruals module and close the accrual directly (see "Understanding Accruals in Confido" for the full closing process). This works even if you don't cancel the promotion itself.

Who this applies to: any Confido user with permission to edit promotions in the Trade Calendar, on any plan tier — this is a data-integrity control, not a permissions restriction.

Limitation: once an accrual is booked, the promotion cannot be deleted through the Delete flow described above (List View, Calendar View, or Board View) — Cancel or Close Accrual are the only supported ways to stop it going forward.
