Products can be discontinued in the consumption forecast by clicking the "Discontinue" button:
Clicking this button will surface a menu that enables the user to decide how broadly (e.g. which planning groups) they wish to discontinue a product or product family's forecasts. (Note: If the user elects not to specify a customer or retailer, the chosen product will be discontinued across all forecast rows)
The user will be required to enter a "Discontinue date" to specify when the forecast should be zeroed out. Once they do so, they will be presented with the impact of the discontinuation, including the relevant promotions, opportunities, and forecast rows impacted.
Note: If you apply a ramp period to a discontinuation, the ramp period runs after the Discontinue date, not before it — the forecast holds at its normal level through the discontinue date, then ramps down starting from that date.
Why does a discontinued product still show in my Consumption forecast?
A discontinued product keeps showing in the Consumption forecast when it was discontinued at the Global Customer level instead of the Retailer level. A Global Customer is the retailer record (such as Kroger) that your Planning Groups roll up to. Consumption forecasts only read discontinuations set on the Planning Group (Retailer). They don't look up to the Global Customer level, so the Consumption forecast still treats the product as active and can keep generating forecast recommendations for it.
How do I discontinue a product so it drops out of the Consumption forecast?
To remove a product from the Consumption forecast for a retailer, discontinue it with the Retailer option:
Open the Consumption forecast and click Discontinue.
Choose the Retailer option, then select the Planning Group or Groups (for example, Kroger).
Select the product or product family.
Enter the Discontinue date, and the last order week if you use one.
Review the impact list of promotions, opportunities and forecast rows, then confirm.
After you confirm, the Consumption forecast rows for that product at the selected Planning Groups go to zero from the Discontinue date. If the product still shows forecast volume, open the discontinue menu again and check that the Retailer option was used, not Global Customer. If it was, contact [email protected] with the product and Planning Group.
How do I fix products already discontinued at the Global Customer level?
Products discontinued at the Global Customer level stay in the Consumption forecast until you discontinue them again at the Retailer level. Re-apply each one with the Retailer option, using the same Discontinue date and last order week. Confido Support can also do this for you if you send the list of products and retailers.
Limitation: Consumption forecasts ignore a Global Customer-level discontinue. Workaround: Always use the Retailer option when a product should leave the Consumption forecast.
Difference From Marking a Product Inactive
Discontinuing a product only zeroes out its forecast for the planning groups/customers you specify — the product itself stays active in the system. If you want to fully deactivate a product everywhere (not just in the forecast), change its Lifecycle status instead:
Navigate to the bottom left-corner of Confido, click the three dots, then click "Products."
Search for and select the product.
Click "Edit."
Update the Lifecycle field to "Inactive" and save.
Use Discontinue when you want to zero out a product's forecast for specific customers or planning groups. Use the Inactive Lifecycle status when you want to retire the product.
Note: Actuals Remain After Discontinuing
Discontinuing a product only zeroes out its forward-looking forecast — it does not remove or hide the product's historical actuals. Past consumption, depletion, or shipment actuals recorded before the discontinue date will continue to appear in Confido's historical views and exports, even after the product has been discontinued. If you're reviewing historical trends for a discontinued product, this is expected behavior, not a data issue.
