Archiving a SKU That's Included in a Family-Level Promotion

What happens to a family-level promotion when you archive one of its SKUs, and how to preview the impact first.

This article explains what happens to your existing promotions when you archive a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit, an individual product code) that belongs to a product family with a family-level promotion in Confido. Read this before archiving SKUs if your team plans promotions at the product-family level rather than the individual-SKU level.

Do I Need to Remove a SKU From Its Family Before Archiving It?

No. You can archive a SKU directly, even if it is still assigned to a product family that has an active or planned promotion. You do not need to first remove the SKU from the family and then archive it separately — Confido handles the promotion recalculation automatically as part of the archive action.

What Happens to the Family-Level Promotion When I Archive a SKU?

When you archive one or more SKUs that belong to a product family with a promotion planned at the family level, Confido keeps the family on the promotion and automatically recalculates the promotion's forecasted units based on the remaining active products in that family. The archived SKU no longer contributes volume to the promotion. Promotions that do not include the archived SKU or its family are not affected.

How Do I See Which Promotions Will Be Affected Before I Archive?

Before you confirm an archive action, Confido shows an Archive Impact preview screen listing every promotion tied to the SKU (or its product family). Use this preview to confirm the recalculated units look correct for each affected promotion.

  1. Select the SKU(s) you want to archive.

  2. Select Archive.

  3. Review the Archive Impact preview, which lists each promotion tied to the SKU or its product family and the expected change to forecasted units.

  4. Confirm the archive.

After you confirm, the SKU status changes to Archived, and any family-level promotions listed in the Archive Impact preview immediately reflect the recalculated forecasted units. If a promotion you expected to see doesn't appear in the preview, confirm it's actually configured at the product-family level and includes the family the archived SKU belongs to.

Limitations

The Archive Impact preview only lists promotions tied to the SKU's product family or to the SKU directly — it does not flag downstream effects outside Trade Promotion Management, such as historical reporting views that reference the archived SKU by name. If you need to preserve forecast and promotion history under a renamed or replaced SKU instead of archiving it outright, see "How to Migrate Forecast and Promotion History When Renaming or Replacing a SKU in Confido."

Who This Applies To

Any Confido user with permission to archive products, on accounts where promotions are planned at the product-family level (for example, distributor "All Other" family promotions or retailer promotions spanning multiple SKUs in one PPG).
